Team Tierheit in Vienna

What it is

Team Tierheit is a project of RADICAL! LOUD! VEGAN! that brings animal-ethics education to children and families. At their street actions, animal representatives ("Tiervertreter:innen") explain animal exploitation in a child-appropriate way and represent veganism according to its original definition: the principle of living without exploiting other animals.

Alongside the street actions there are workshops, online and offline meetups and a family community. Everything is organized through local groups.

Flow and roles

• Sign holders: make the animals visible with signs and beach flags.
• Outreach / animal representatives: hold conversations with families and children, guided by the child conversation guide (KIGL).
• Materials: flyers, family cards, stickers and outreach cards are handed out.
• Media/Film: document the action for social media.
• Organizing: the local group leadership coordinates flow, materials and the briefing.

Clothing and materials

There is no strict dress code. Signs, beach flags, flyers, family cards and other materials are provided by the local group and coordinated on site.

For first-timers

Holding a sign, helping with setup or first listening in on conversations are good first roles. The child conversation guide helps you ease into child-appropriate conversations. It is best to contact the local group in advance so there are enough materials.
