What it is

The VR Challenge is an action by AnimalRights.at. Passers-by are approached with posters such as "VR Challenge - are you brave enough?" Whoever agrees puts on a VR headset and watches at least five minutes of slaughterhouse footage.

After the video, there is a conversation about what the person has seen. AnimalRights.at uses VR videos by Animal Equality Germany.

Flow and roles

Set up posters and equipment.
Approach passers-by.
Handle the VR headset, headphones and video.
Keep juice or water ready.
Hold an outreach conversation directly afterwards.

Technology and materials

VR headsets, batteries, headphones and videos are provided by the organizing team. New volunteers do not need to bring their own equipment.

For first-timers

Equipment is provided by the organizing team. New people can help with setup, approaching people, juice/water or equipment.
